Peugeot crosses over with 2008 - News
YET another mini-SUV will enter the fray for sales in the booming cross-over market in the summer in the shape of the all new Peugeot 2008.
Making its debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, the newcomer is Peugeot’s first venture into this increasingly popular market segment, but, while it is billed as an “urban crossover”, it looks more like a pumped-up estate car and is, effectively, the replacement for the 207SW, which has no equivalent in the new 208 range on which the 2008 is based.
The new car blends the best of the award-winning 3008 SUV with the latest features, performance and state-of-the-art engines of the new 208 supermini.
Peugeot says it is aiming the 2008 at “young city-dwellers who love the urban environment but also enjoy escaping from it at every opportunity.”
Power comes from the same range of new, high-efficiency engines as used in the 208 including diesel and three-cylinder petrol options.
Order books will open at UK dealerships in June and the new car will officially go on sale later in the Summer.
