THE latest chapter in a story that has seen 6.5 million cars sold in 30 years is about to be written with the arrival of Fiat’s new Panda 4x4 and Trekking models.
And the Italian marque has announced that prices for the new third generation line-up will start at £13,950 for the 0.9 TwinAir 85bhp 4x4 model, rising to £14,950 for the 1.3-litre MultiJet 4x4 diesel version.
Prices for the two-wheel drive Panda Trekking start at £12,450 for the TwinAir version and £13,450 for the MultiJet.
Panda 4x4 is the off-road version of the new range and offers a blend of on-road manners with off-road ability, thanks to its permanent four-wheel drive system.
The car features body-coloured 4x4 style bumpers with a satin aluminium finished skid-plate, roof rails, side mouldings with 4x4 logo, black wheel arches and side skirts, 15-inch dark alloy wheels and raised ground clearance suspension.
Inside, there are twin-coloured seats, coloured dashboard, door panels in coloured ‘eco-leather’ and a gloss black instrument surround. Trekking models get a similar treatment, but with a black skid-plate instead of satin aluminium and lighter finish alloy wheels.
The full engine line-up comprises the award-winning 85bhpTwinAir 0.9-litre petrol, giving the Panda 4x4 a top speed of 103mph (Trekking 106mph), Combined fuel consumption of 57.6mpg (61.4mpg) and CO2 figure of 114g/km (105g/km).
The 75bhp MultiJet can reach 99mph (100mph Trekking), returns 60.1mpg (67.3mpg) and has a CO2 figure of 125g/km (109g/km).
Fiat marketing director Elena Bernardelli said: “The Fiat Panda 4x4 is one of the best-known, and most capable four-wheel drive cars available, and we are delighted to announce it for the UK.
“And the new Panda Trekking is also an exciting introduction, and will be an ideal choice for customers who care about style but don’t need a full 4x4.”
